PREMIER LEAGUE REVIEW – MATCH DAY 6

PREMIER LEAGUE REVIEW – MATCH DAY 6

2018-09-21
| by Editor | Posted in Betting Previews

The Premier League kicks off this weekend with high-flying Watford at Fulham. Liverpool and Chelsea are defending their 100 percent records this season against Southampton and West Ham respectively. Liverpool and Chelsea who are both at the top of the Premier League table need one more win each to set up a decider at the Stamford Bridge, and with the way Liverpool and Chelsea are sweeping everything in front of them, you would not bet against them.

We’ve also got Jose Mourinho’s men and Arsenal looking to extend winning runs and Tottenham desperately needing to stop the losing streak.

Fulham vs Watford

By the end of the season, both these teams should be closer in the table but the gap between them - currently eight points and 11 places following Watford's flying start - is unlikely to shrink this weekend.

Cardiff vs Manchester City

There's no doubt Manchester City had one eye on the Champions League when they eased off against Fulham last weekend, for all the good it did them. Never mind, they'll have Pep Guardiola back where he belongs for this one after his midweek suspension and the manager will be expecting nothing but a comfortable win against the biggest outsiders in the sixth round of fixtures.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle

Newcastle fans might be happy to read Palace getting tipped to win as we've been wrong about Roy Hodgson's side the past two weeks having backed them to beat Southampton and go down at Huddersfield. The Toon Army won't be so pleased about their team's recent record though, as it stinks - played five, drawn one, lost four. Go back even further to take in the five games at the tail-end of last season and the smell gets even worse as a final-day win over Chelsea snapped a four-game losing run from April into May.

Liverpool vs Southampton

Apart from those in Southampton, half of Merseyside and most of Manchester, football lovers will be hoping Liverpool does the business and Chelsea follow suit 24 hours later so that the two remaining 100 percent records will be put on the line like heavyweight belts in a blockbuster battle next weekend. Jurgen Klopp was happier with the performance than he was with the result against Tottenham last Saturday as his side should have been out of sight before a late scare but he had no complaints about the midweek victory over PSG.

Manchester United vs Wolves

Three straight wins make it seem a while ago that Manchester United were thumped on their own patch by Tottenham but they're back at Old Trafford for the first time since that miserable Monday night last month. They've bounced back in fine style and Jose Mourinho's only real gripe of late, before the 3-0 victory at Young Boys, was his side's failure to kill off Burnley and Watford having led 2-0 at the break in both games.

Brighton vs Tottenham

While United have posted three straight wins since losing at home to Tottenham, it's been the exact opposite for Mauricio Pochettino, whose side have lost three on the bounce for the first time since he took the reins. The most recent - that Inter Milan late show in the San Siro - was probably the hardest to take. They could have been handed a harder game to try to kick-off their recovery but they could also have wished for an easier fixture than Brighton away. The Seagulls have already beaten Man United on the south coast, held Harry Kane and Co there in April and have only lost one of the last nine on their own patch.
