It’s that time of the month where club football takes a backseat and international football takes center stage.

The week of the international break is here. For the next few days, before the third weekend of the month, a lot of national teams will be taking to the stage to qualify for the most coveted trophy on the continent.

In Europe, it will be all about the UEFA Nations League. But in Africa, the race to qualify for the 2019 CAF African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament is on. After the radical changes made, the 16-team tournament has now been increased to 24 by the world football governing body, FIFA.

Starting today, 48 countries will be battling it out for goals, points and a chance to feature at the finals set to take place in Cameroon for June to July next year.

Let’s look at some of the International games you can cash out on:

Nigeria vs. Libya

Both teams will be playing against each other twice before this international break is over. This Group E fixture will see the Super Eagles play the first leg and they must take advantage of the fact they are playing on home turf. It’s tight in this group.

Libya currently top the group with four points. The South Africans are in second place with the same number of points. Nigeria is in third, with three points, three goals scored and two conceded. The Libyans have only conceded one goal since their campaign began so Nigeria need to make sure they breach that resolute defence.

Algeria vs Benin

It may look like a mismatch on paper but the current situation in Group D makes this a tasty clash to look forward to.

Both sides are tied at the top of the group with the same number of points - having the same number of wins, draws and losses. The only thing separating them is the goal difference.

Both sides apparently aren’t the best goal scoring sides in these qualifiers.

Egypt vs. Swaziland

Speaking of goal scoring, the Egyptians have blazed the trail since the qualifiers began. Their six goals scored in two games puts them right at the top of the goal scoring standings.

But they’re still second to Tunisia in the Group J standings, no thanks to their one win and one loss record so far.

Do you think Mohamed Salah will score for Egypt in this game?

They have the chance to get their next three points – maybe five over both legs – against Swaziland. With no wins in their last two games, no goals scored since their qualifying campaign began, it looks like it will be an easy win for Mo Salah and co.

Football is still full of surprises. Which surprise result(s) are you looking forward to seeing in this round of CAF AFCON qualifying games? Leave us your comments and share your thoughts with us.
